- Represents indigent clients accused of criminal actions in all courts in the Commonwealth. - Handles litigation for indigent clients by promptly interviewing clients and maintaining contact through conclusion of the case. - Gathers knowledge for bond advocacy. - Researches legal issues and writes clear, concise motions for appropriate cases. - Files motions and insures copies of motions are placed in the client's file. - Obtains knowledge of cases through discovery and investigation sufficient to make a decision regarding disposition. - Develops a theory of the case that is consistent with the facts and the law and refines the theory through case reviews and brainstorming. - Develops a method of organization for trial with a consistent, well-developed theory prepared prior to trial and presents with integrity a vigorous, effective, ethical case at trial. - Negotiates with skill for clients and properly advises clients of the current law.

• Identified, engaged and cultivated community leaders and key stakeholders (grasstops) in support of coastal restoration and community flood protection. • Lobbied and advocated for policy and regulation to ensure community flood protection and natural hazard resiliency with members of the Louisiana Legislature, city officials, state agencies, and the Corps of Engineers. • Planned, developed, and executed an education and outreach campaign in the Greater New Orleans area to build partnerships to support coastal restoration, protecting communities from future storms. • Managed and directed outreach interns and volunteers.• Planned and coordinated large and small-scale events. • Oversaw the campaign’s advocacy budget.• Co-authored the program’s multi-million-dollar grant proposal and report.

- Conducted a comprehensive study of state water laws in order to write a white paper for the Louisiana Legislature on how to best protect Louisiana's waters. - Drafted white papers for coastal parish governments to encourage the inclusion of ordinances to protect their Parish from sea level rise and increased subsidence.- Drafted a gap analysis of coastal parish ordinances. The gap analysis highlighted areas of local law that needed improvement due to climate change.

- Worked with the Department of Natural Resources to draft regulations to extend the coastal zone boundary- Worked with the Tulane Water Law Institute to review the Restore Act to ensure protection for Louisiana natural resources- Spoke to local government officials about methods they could use to restore coastline in their parishes.- Researched and drafted memoranda and law review articles on environmental and coastal law. Memoranda and articles prepared dealt with extending the gulfward boundary, beach re-nourishment, permitting under the Clean Water Act, beneficial use of dredged material, local government ordinance recommendations due to sea level rise, aquaculture regulations, the policy implications of requiring all shrimp vessels to have turtle excluder devices, acquisitive prescription, and the legal remedies available for removing abandoned and derelict vessels from state bodies of water and the legal issues that arise with oystermen and oil companies being co-lessees of state water bottoms. - Prospective publication: Rebuilding Louisiana's Coast Without Invoking the Fifth Amendment's Taking Clause: Using Background Principles of Law- Reviewed the Louisiana Hazard Mitigation Handbook- Prepared the Louisiana Proposed Legislative Resolution for the 2012 Comprehensive Master Plan- Drafted the Louisiana Coastal Law Email Update Issue #31.- Attended a two day educational driving trip down the Mississippi River to LUMCON lead by Don Davis, the Director Emeritus of Oral Histories at LSU, and chronicling the coastal issues that plague Louisiana
