I’m a 3rd year psychology major at the University of Cincinnati graduating in spring 2024. I plan on obtaining a Ph.D. in Social Psychology after graduation. I am committed to making valuable contributions to research on the well-being and relationships of underrepresented populations. My experience in research began under the supervision of Dr. Harley. We have created a qualitative proposal utilizing PhotoVoice that questions how Black youth in low-income neighborhoods perceive their relationships with their parents and caregivers. Furthermore, it examines how these relationships are connected to the child’s well-being. This research will give a voice to families who may have never had the chance to speak out about issues plaguing their communities. My experience continued in the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital summer undergraduate research fellowship (SURF) program. Dr. Giambra and I completed a secondary analysis that studied the relationship between the social vulnerability index (SVI) and the family management measures (FaMM). Our population included families that have children with complex chronic conditions.
