Led by Trevor Houser, the Climate Policy Fellows Program is designed to support CCNY undergraduate students from the sciences, social sciences, architecture, and engineering degree programs with training, professional development, and internship opportunities that link climate-related science, engineering, and economics to public policy. Fellows participate in four intensive workshops led by a range of senior national and international climate policy leaders. The workshops prepare fellows to understand how science, engineering, and economics research affects public policy, and how policy-making shapes these fields of research.

The mission of this student chapter is to establish a sense of community in the ChE department, provide professional development, and bridge the gap between academia and the industry. AIChE at CCNY aims to get their students involved in the AIChE regional and annual conferences, by participating in ChE Car, which uses the students' ChE knowledge practically.• Co-planned the 2023 Senior Gala, including hosting• Developed a calendar for AIChE's events in the 2023-2024 School Year; Constructed, Updated, and Checked Task Manger • Enforced the chapter’s mission of establishing CCNY’s reputation in chemical engineering, by ensuring CCNY's presence at the National and Regional AIChE Conferences and the establishment of a CCNY ChE Jeopardy Team and ChE Car Team • Delegated tasks to achieve the chapter’s milestones • Setting up meetings with the student chapter advisor, for updates, feedback, and inquiries • Communicated with other Metro NY Local chapters• Wrote funding proposals for AIChE Student Chapter presence at AIChE Conferences • Planned and co-planned 12 total events, including Speed-Friending and attendance at 2023 AIChE Annual Conference

The Stevens Research Experiences For Undergraduate Students (REU)/ Research Experiences For High School Teachers (RET) Site offers research and educational opportunities for both undergraduates and high school teachers to expose them to interdisciplinary research in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemistry, and chemical biology laboratories in the summer months.• Researched cation-disordered rocksalt materials for electrochemical lithium storage • Synthesized cation-disordered rocksalt with non-critical elements and evaluated crystal structure using X-ray diffraction • Prepared active cathode mass, cathodes, and coin-cell batteries in glovebox• Cells were galvanostatically tested to study structure-property relationship

Note: Left from June 2022 - December 2022• Assembles sensors that collect environmental data such as air quality, soil quality, and flooding in order to promote citizen science and advocate for communities.• Learned technical skills such as soldering connector pins and crimping jumper wires.• Constructs presentations in order to teach high school students about the Community Sensor Lab • Creates informational videos about sensor assembly to fulfill the Community Sensor Lab’s aim of engaging in citizen science to further the knowledge of community members regarding sensors.• Documented the sensor assembly process as a manual for the community members to construct their own sensors. • Won the Best Presentation Award at the 2023 Bio-Inspired and Green (BIG) Science and Technology Symposium as part of a four-person team.

Tasks and Responsibilities: • Conducted research on: Dyeing polyester, cotton, and polyester-cotton blends in a more sustainable way Eco-friendly dyestuff for polyester, cotton, and polyester-cotton blends Fixed and running costs for lab and production facility machinery • Wrote literature review and white paper on research findings • Prepared and presented a presentation on research findings • Scouted for companies that provide machinery for a production facility• Assisted in production facility schematic• Worked with dye experts

• Supervised the Environmentor projects, by tracking students’ progress and assisting in their research in nuisance flooding and aerial seal distribution. • Mediator between Environmentor students and project experts from the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center and the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society. • Co-organized community-oriented events such as dune plantings and beach cleanups.

• Practiced environmental stewardship through environmental projects including dune plantings and beach cleanups at the Rockaway Beach to promote environmental resilience and protect marine mammals, respectively. • Assisted in community events such as Earth Day and Hip-Hop Halloween by leading workshops like face-painting for attendees

• Researched and wrote paper regarding the phenotypical differences of bottlenose dolphins’ dorsal fins in the New York Bight by working with Gotham Whale in which it was found that there was no morphological difference in dorsal fins of dolphins found inshore • Presented findings to both the End of Summer Celebration at the RISE Center and the NYC Science Symposium at the City College of New York. • Strengthened public speaking skills by working with Irondale improv group
