Edcon is the largest Clothing Footwear Textiles & Accessories Retailer in Southern Africa. With the largest consumer credit base and ~1500 store network the cross selling of value added Financial Services products & services is a logical extension. I was responsible for the first Group Financial Services Strategy accepted in 1998/99. Highlights of my Edcon career includes:* Launched a Credit Life program with Hollard Insurance in 2000. We were the first in SA to include Retrenchment cover as an insured benefit.* Established Edcon Insurance Services - a JV with Hollard in 2001. Launched 22 products over a 10 year period. CAGR of 20%+ over the first 10 year period. Gross Written Premiums now in excess of R1,5billon p.a. Financial Services now ~30% of Group EBITDA* Launched the Edgars MasterCard with Standard Bank in 2001. Issued >500,000 cards over a 3 year period making it the fastest growing MasterCard in the EMEA region at the time.* Launched Edgars /Jet Home Loans and Personal Loans with FNB* Tested Edgar Motor Car Finance with Motor Finance Corporation.* Built a closed loop acceptance network since 1998 which now includes >3000 non Edcon merchants accepting Edcon Store Cards as a valid tender type across Healtchare, Entertainment, Transport and Leisure categories. Doing a deal with FlyMango in 2005 to accept Edcon Credit was especially rewarding.* Concluded deals with Tiger Wheel & Tyre, CTM and Arthur Kaplan Jewellers to provide private label credit. Edcon Credit provided a full turnkey credit solution for a number of years to these clients.*Was part of deal team that completed the sale of the R10 billion Edcon Debtors Book to ABSA Barclays in 2012 being the largest credit card deal done in SA to date.* Was part of the deal team that completed a R500m annual outsourcing deal with Accenture in 2015 of 1,100 customer services and collections staff supporting the ABSA portfolio.
