Adept at many genres (jazz, rock, classical, fiddle) Violinist Edgar Gabriel has performed with many notable musicians including Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, Mannheim Steamroller, Daniel Barenboim, Elvis Costello & Burt Bacharach, The Moody Blues, Andreas Bocelli and Mark O'Connor. Theatrical experience include leading the onstage string quartet for Steppenwolf Theater's "A Clockwork Orange". Violinist for Cirque du Soleil's Mystere and Dralion.As a contractor, Edgar has provided music for dignitaries such as President William Jefferson Clinton, Mayor Richard M. Daley and Senator Peter Fitzgerald. Published musical works include the book "String Groove, Ideas For Improvising". Recorded violin with many notable musicians including The Plain White T's, Cheap Trick, Johnny Frigo and Rachel Barton Pine. Mr. Gabriel is a violin/music instructor in great demand. He is on the faculties of William Rainey Harper and Elmhurst Colleges. Edgar owes his teaching and playing abilities to his former teachers: Gerardo Ribeiro, Joseph Golan, William Harotonian, Frank Beezhold, Pierre Menard, Arnold Brostoff and Mary Rosen. Edgar constantly writes and performs music that highlights the violin and other stringed instruments. His goal is to continually create and perform new music for the violin. His band StringFusion is the recording and performing outlet for this new music. Mr. Gabriel writes original music for television and other soundtracks. Most recently, Edgar wrote and recorded the theme and other incidental music for "The Spirited Gardener" a new PBS (WTTW) series.Specialties: Edgar Gabriel is a violinist who has a great deal of experience performing, recording, teaching and composing in many different genres (i.e jazz, classical, rock, fiddle). He is very experienced in the recording studio and if necessary, has the technical knowledge and ability to record on any session in the world without physically being there. As a contractor for live music Edgar has over 20 years of experience leading large or small classical, jazz and dance orchestras.
