About Ed Garsten
I have more than 45 years of multimedia experience including nearly 20 at CNN as a correspondent, bureau chief, anchor and founding producer of Headline News. My post-CNN career includes as national auto writer at the Associated Press, and General Motors beat writer at The Detroit News where I had the distinction of having three page one bylined stories in the same edition..only the third time in more than 30 years at that paper. I recently retired from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles after 11 years putting all of my multimedia expertise to use as Senior Manager/Head, FCA Digital Media where I led the automaker's broadcast and Internet communications, with a special emphasis on blogging and production of viral videos and digital communications. Our blogs have won awards from PR Newswire, Women in Communications and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). A weekly video news recap of significant Chrysler news stories called "Under the Pentastar," which I created, also won an award from the IABC and PR News. I am currently semi-retired, working part-time as a video reporter for Automotive News. My goal is to leverage my long history of multimedia experience to attain a senior management position at a corporation committed to using the most modern and non-traditional methods in order to communicate its messages and converse with current and prospective clients or customers.Specialties: Management, writing, video and audio production, social media creation and management, voice and camera performance.
