As a curator-botanist I help to care for, and facilitate access to, Kew's herbarium collection of approx. 8 million plant specimens. Alongside curatorial activities, I have particular interests in interdisciplinary research themes within plant humanities such as the history of botany, sustainability ethics, and philosophy of science. I am also starting to get to grips the taxonomy of ferns.Current projects at Kew: - Curator of ferns from the Americas - Managing the curation of Darwin's plant collections from HMS Beagle. - DNA sampling for PAFTOL (Plant and Fungal Tree of Life) project. - Exhibition curation team for Marianne North Gallery.I also work as an ecologist on a freelance basis, conducting surveys and writing reports such as those for protected species (bats, GCN, reptiles and many more), PEA's, BREEAM assessments, and currently also learning Biodiversity Net Gain.
