As a shy freshman in a world where technical skills need to be blended with social abilities, I had quite a challenge ahead. Thus, I set to work. I wanted to combine an exceptional electrical engineering education with valuable human experiences so that my formation could have the right balance between hard and soft skills.That goal allowed me to have some of the most treasured experiences of my university years. From being a tutor for a semiconductor physics course, to share valuable time with kids at social risk in Brazil; from participating in the first Central American Space Generation Workshop, to serve as a mentor for exchange students from all around the world. I was putting together the pieces of a unique engineer profile, but I knew I had to polish one more piece.In a globalized world, being assertive is not enough. So, my next step was to broaden my language skills. I learned English, Portuguese, Italian, and took some French lessons. I enrolled writing clubs and started a reading habit. And that process has been going on since then.Today, I believe I have an important set of tools to tackle modern challenges. From global warming to disease control and silicon burnout, humanity is facing a reality where we need to be more creative than ever. And, if I can join the efforts while I create amazing technology and broad my knowledge, that is an opportunity I cannot miss.
