Personal finances impact our clients’ ability to create a more stable financial life and brighter future for themselves, their families, and communities.Financial coaching requires a mix of characteristics. You need to be a people person, love people, want the best for them, and really be a cheerleader on their side. At the same time you also need to be analytical. Able to separate your desire to help from a desire to please. You need to be able to engage while noticing patterns, take a bird's eye view of the data and the person and be able to boldly ask questions without the need to be "right" in order to dig to the underlayers of client behavior. Clients need to know you see them where they are, feel that you hold a safe space for them to be exactly there without feeling judged, yet also feel empowered by the fact that you are there with them to progress to the next level. You must build a relationship that provides them leverage to reposition themselves to change, knowing they are not alone. You help them prepare and prove themselves ready for success. I have a variety of experiences in financial services, from foreclosure research for rehabbers to real estate sales, to insurance, to a number of years involved with credit, mortgages and debt relief.
