SCOPE:After completing over 12 years of active duty, I have transitioned to the reserves to continue serving in the role of chaplain, counselor and mentor.

SCOPE:In this role, I led an organization that played a key role in shaping a mentally and spiritually ready staff facing challenging circumstances worldwide. My team consisted of 10 staff members, six ministry teams, and 40 volunteers. Together we provided 24/7 programming for 6,000 employees on 21 ships while also serving their 9,000 family members.HIGHLIGHTS:Command Advisor: Prior to international port visits and otherwise as needed, advised senior command leadership on cultural diversity issues and conducted country specific diversity education for ship's crew members on issues such as religions, traditions, ethnicity and gender roles/expectations.Operational Effectiveness - Created an assessment tool to identify service needs and measure outcomes to ensure maximum program effectiveness for a varied population.Strategy Development - Analyzed assessment results to recommend and develop pilot program and processes that optimized program delivery; model was implemented on all 21 ships.Volunteer Management - Fulfilled diverse service needs by recruiting and training qualified volunteers, resulting in flexible, cost-effective programming during overseas deployments.Humanitarian Aid - Spearheaded Project Handclasp. Coordinated transportation and delivery of donated medical and educational supplies to partner nonprofit organizations in Greece and Bahrain, contributing to the Navy’s mission as a “Global Force for Good”.

SCOPE:My primary impact in this position was revitalizing a ministry and counseling program supporting 2,100 clients through new and needed programs. My responsibilities included managing a $95K operating budget for a $500K organization.HIGHLIGHTS:New Initiative - Created “Sea Legs” mentor program to improve behavior of new recruits; program was adopted by support centers nationwide for effectiveness in curbing disciplinary problems.Partnerships - Collaborated with local counselors to develop PTSD Support Group for military veterans, and created a volunteer chaplain program for local police department.Process Development - Created Navy’s first policy for conducting burials at sea from a submarine; standardized procedures to ensure timely receipt of memorial items by families.Community Relations - Strengthened community relations by creating programs: Annual Christmas Pick Up Parade of Lights, sports teams, motorcycle club, and reading program.

SCOPE:Here I provided counseling and support to 650 employees and 1,200 family members. My work took me to Okinawa and Iraq for extended periods, gaining international program delivery experience.HIGHLIGHTS:Disaster Relief - Mobilized volunteers for post-Hurricane Katrina projects, including construction of temporary classroom space, acquisition of a new trailer-based library with 5,500 donated books, and beach cleanup. Received medal in recognition of leadership efforts. Counseling Program - Recognized for saving lives with programs that prepared personnel for combat stress, including awareness of PTSD and suicide signals.Initiatives - Improved employee behavior and wellness with programs including a family sponsor program that cut DUIs by 65%, and a wellness seminar to help returning veterans reintegrate.

SCOPE:In this role, I launched and led a new counseling and ministry program serving 1,200 clients with a special focus on addressing social service and education needs.HIGHLIGHTS:Program Innovation - Developed and managed eight new volunteer programs including a school mentoring program, clothing drive, holiday food basket delivery, and summer sports clinics for low-income children.

Increased overall development revenue by 23% in one year from multiple sources including corporations, foundations and individual donors.MISSION;Support The Enlisted Project (STEP) is a not-for-profit 501 3 (c) organization, with the mission of providing emergency financial and transition assistance grants to active duty and recently discharged enlisted military and their families. STEP is headquartered in San Diego, California and operates a second office in Santa Ana, CA. STEP serves military communities and families in the seven southern counties of California, which includes 19 military installations and approximately 460,000 active duty and recently discharged service members and their dependents. RESPONSIBILITIES;Provided leadership and oversight for all fundraising programs for all of STEP (individual, corporate, and foundation), including but not limited to identifying programs and donors for funding opportunities, strategizing and facilitating opportunities for principal and major gift fundraising, and creating environments and procedures that enhanced communication with current and potential donors. Prepared and provided written and oral presentations for potential donors and other organizations.Created a customer centered fundraising and development operation that was responsive to staff as well as to donors, prospects, and development colleagues. This included designing and implementing an aggressive donor stewardship and recognition program.

SCOPE:As a consultant, I leveraged my knowledge and experience in program management, operations, strategic thinking, fundraising, team building, volunteer training, and stakeholder relations to help a forward-thinking organization reach its goals.Having completed active military service, I have transitioned to reserve duty. I am pursuing opportunities as a nonprofit executive while completing a M.S. degree in Nonprofit Management with a concentration in social media.

SCOPE: Sales and operations were my focus in this position seeing the expansion of this startup company into eight states and $12 million in annual revenue by the fifth year. I managed and trained over 75 employees in sales, customer service, and maintenance. HIGHLIGHTS:Revenue Growth: Instrumental in creating the foundation for company’s ongoing financial success by identifying prospects, conducting sales calls, closing agreements, and building strong customer relationships.
