I'm very excited to join MBZUAI, where I will develop and teach new courses in computational biology and start a research group. My primary research interest is in the development of tools and methods for processing and analyzing single cell omics data. As part of MBZUAI generous startup funding, I will be able to host visiting students, researchers and scholars for periods up to 6 months, and I will soon be hiring a postdoc researcher. I provide the slides and abstract of my research talk below for those who would like to learn more. Please feel free to send me a message if any of this interests you.=== For more details on my research interests, see my research talk linked below ===Research talk title: Enabling precision medicine with single cell omics and decentralized clinical studiesResearch talk slides: https://www.canva.com/design/DAGDB0KIrCM/_EP_uuAKdCrV8SZtik-zTA/view?utm_content=DAGDB0KIrCM&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=editor

I am a volunteer and strong supporter of the Vilson Groh Institute in Florianópolis, Brazil. The institute coordinates a network of institutions that for decades has been working with marginalized communities in Brazil, focused on youth, education and the creation of opportunities that foster social and economic inclusion. Over 40 years of grassroots work they have been successfully addressing the thorniest problems of the Brazil and provide a model for reinventing brazilian education. Today they reach over 6000 students in full time and complementary education, and 20000 people in community and family support and development programs.Materials in English at https://vilsongroh.orgBesides financial support I help with English outreach and discovering partnerships and opportunities outside Brazil. In 2021 we set up a designated fund with the BrazilFoundation, a US 501(c)3 that now takes tax-deductible donations on behalf of the institute: https://www.brazilfoundation.org/podecrerfund/If interested in learning more I wrote an article published on the Harvard Review of Latin America: https://revista.drclas.harvard.edu/a-beacon-of-hope-for-brazil-in-a-pandemic-year/The official Portuguese website is https://redeivg.org.brIf interested in learning more or supporting the institute feel free to reach out to me at eduardo@redeivg.org.br
