IBM is a 100 year old technology that has been on the cutting edge for decades. It has many lines of business from mainframe modernization to AI development. I am a principal in the cloud applications consulting group. I work mostly with tier 1 clients such as Delta Airlines and Google.

My bootstrap "garage lab" project that resulted in some interesting developments. Many late nights of jamming with friends, tinkering and a whole lot of alcohol motivated me to apply my knowledge of holistic systems engineering to guitar tone. I wound up creating an acoustic device to fundamentally modify and enrich the tone of stringed instruments. In an even weirder twist, I was awarded United States Patent # 9,502,009 B1 for my invention. It is in use by several world renown guitarists who call it "Edward's Bridge" ( I had a catchy name for it before, but it didn't stick). This is a new Salesforce implementation project with integrations from Salesforce to AWS to on-prem legacy systems. I developed the cloud integrations using server less architecure with Lambda Functions.

This is a ground up start up that was founded to build technology to deliver to a diverse ecosystem in multiple verticals. The investors had various holdings in which to test and launch a unifying platform to consolidate their data. It was designed to accommodate B2B as well as B2C requirements. The core of the platform was based on realtime data that would propagate throughout the other verticals for shared data and intelligence. I was the first on the ground for this project and it has been very rewarding to go from zero to something real in such a short time. It unfortunately was a victim of Covid as well.

We've built several platforms and applications that revolutionized the student experience and have garnered attention from the White House and Cabinet because of our work here. Our project leveraged Blockchain in an effort to seamlessly integrated academic records among institutions. The higher education sector is a difficult place to build and deploy commercial grade systems, especially for custom "in-house" solutions, but it can be done. I recently authored UT System's first provisional patent filing, tying real-world skills to academic achievements leveraging Blockchain technology. Seeing how the technology we've built actually changed the lives of both learners and their communities has been a very, very rewarding experience. I highly recommend every engineer spend at least one tour in their career servicing the education sector.

Implemented several systems for multiple business models in e-commerce space. Some of these included developing realtime integrated e-commerce solutions into video presentations. These were start-up endeavors that required enterprise class solutions with minimal development time and budget. These included Shoutz Inc., Cinsay Inc., and several prototypes for investors. Architected and developed the infrastructure for mobile and web platforms. Architected and developed non profit mobile platforms and payment solutions. Coordinated with off-shore developer teams and co-developed web-based multi-tiered enterprise applications. Designed and built several systems for multiple business models in the not-for-profit space such as Inspire Hub.

Implemented the application stack performance monitoring systems using Java and Ruby for the back-end and PHP for the web based presentation layers. The monitoring component and presentation component communicated with each other using JSON messages and the alerting components used email. Designed and coded the iPhone apps to integrate with monitoring systems and infrastructure. Designed and coded the database performance monitoring systems also using Ruby for the back-end and PHP for the web based presentation layers. This application still used JSON for communications between components but added DB2 monitoring into the system. Built the internal engineering portal using Drupal CMS and built the modules to interface with the monitoring system. Planned and architected the migration of the applications and data from DB2 to MySQL.

Drove, planned and managed the technical evolution process of the company’s prototype systems to a fully productionalized enterprise infrastructure that increased the valuation of the company and aligned to strategic objectives. Authored the XML document based payment card manufacture specification - used by VISA, MasterCard and others.

Developed process, strategies, schedules, and resource plans in conjunction with stakeholders to ensure requirements coverage and product quality. Designed and implemented various solutions for payment systems and mortgage backed securities Designed and implemented the EDS network integration component with Visa. Authored software requirements specifications for .NET applications for TekSystems / Credit-Suisse project. Implemented software engineering best practices within the development teams.

Principal Integration Architect, ETL Specialist and Software Systems Integration Lead. Deployed labor management scheduling system to all retail outlets of Blockbuster North America. Drove best practices compliance and supervised configuration and change management. Managed level 3 support for labor management scheduling and payroll systems. Designed and developed diagnostic software to troubleshoot and root-cause cross-platform data integrity issues. Developed monitoring software to proactively maintain labor management and payroll systems. Managed reengineering ETL processes in support of in-store solutions. Researched and helped established best practices for data integration methods, processes and architecture.

Researched the initial design and developed the web site CGI application and backend for the real-time energy data collection and analysis services offered by UDRI. This was built for the MS-IIS on NT4.0/2000 platform and was designed to be easily converted from stand alone CGI .exe to an ISAPI.dll. It calculates power factors, load factors, marginal costs, and marginal usage based on the customer's interval and units of measure for each channel in the recorder. It maintains error and hit logs, manages downloads of energy data files, and in turn generates the proper HTML, JavaScript and ASP documents for the response to the client application. We used the regular HTML/ASP and JavaScript tool kits for the front end (client), but instead of using ODBC and JDBC APIs for the middleware, I utilized pre-existing proprietary components that we had built for other applications and then loaded them into the CGI. It saved time and took advantage of some code reuse practices.
