The Investment Analyst plays a key role within the Investment team, supporting the management of a global investment portfolio. My main responsibilities involve analyzing the financial data of potential investment managers, such as their performance history, strategies, and team structure. I evaluate various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, real estate, and alternative investments, while also tracking market trends and economic indicators to identify investment risks and opportunities. I use tools like Excel, Access, FactSet, Bloomberg, eVestment, and others to assist the CIO and the team in overseeing the investment portfolio.My role includes conducting thorough research on potential investment managers and asset classes, performing due diligence on new investment opportunities, analyzing market trends, and presenting recommendations to the pension fund's investment committee. The goal is to maximize returns and manage risk for pension beneficiaries, adhering to the fund’s investment strategy. This includes monitoring existing investments, assessing their performance, and identifying opportunities to optimize the portfolio.Additionally, I prepare reports related to IMRF’s total portfolio, investment manager usage, and brokerage activity, ensuring compliance with the Investment Policy. I am also responsible for special projects and regularly interact with the Chief Investment Officer, Investment Officers, Investment Consultants, current and potential managers, brokers, and other investment professionals.

Edward Bush is a Client Service Manager in the Public Funds/Taft Hartley group within the Corporate & Institutional Trust Services business unit at Northern Trust - Chicago. He is responsible for the daily administration of our Public Funds client relationships. His specific responsibilities include performing the day-to-day account support activities, documenting and complying with client-specific procedures, managing specific client issues, and ensuring resolution to the client’s satisfaction. He also facilitates communication in order to execute transaction activities in a timely and accurate manner.Edward joined Northern Trust in September of 2012 as an Analyst with the Client Valuation Reporting Public Funds/Taft Hartley team, and was promoted to Senior Analyst in 2014. In 2016, he was promoted to a Financial Reporting Consultant. Prior to joining Northern Trust Edward was a Billing Analyst for Insight Enterprise Inc. In 2009, he interned at Merrill Lynch’s Wealth Management division.Edward earned a Bachelor of Finance and Bachelor of Economics degrees from Elmhurst College. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Finance from Lewis University.
