Ed is an educator and leader in not-for-profit and for-profit organizations. He has more than 50 years of experience focusing on new enterprise development and sustainability, international strategy, leadership development, distance work/learning and use of technology to improve learning. His career has covered many domains and Ed has been responsible for the development of new revenue generation of well over a billion dollars. He earned his PhD in Management Systems & Marketing from the University of Colorado at Boulder and attended medical school at the University of Venezuela focused on research in Leprosy. He is a returned Peace Corps Volunteer from Costa Rica & Venezuela. Bilingual in Spanish/English, he's worked in Latin America, Europe and in Asia. He has completed several hundred consulting projects since 1975. From 2015 to 2020 he was a Senior Consultant for USAID through World Learning/TLP in Kosovo where he mentored the Rector(s) and developed a country-wide leadership development program. He was a founder of the Arist Education System as the Chief Learning Officer. He helped found venture-capital-funded Altius Education in San Francisco and as Entrepreneur in Residence, he developed new acquisitions for the University Ventures Fund in NYC. Ed was Provost at Saybrook University, with campuses in San Francisco and Seattle & at New England College with 22 learning sites in New England. He also served for 15 years as the founding graduate dean and as a full professor in the MBA program at Regis University in Denver (managing over 1000 faculty and staff and serving over 6,000 graduate students). He served as the first CEO of MERLOT (www.merlot.org), a digital objects library/referatory and held administrative and faculty posts at the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS), the University of Colorado, and Metropolitan State University of Denver. He helped found International Data Systems in 1982 and moved them to an IPO. He is the author of numerous articles, book chapters and professional presentations, co-author of three books and most recently was keynote speaker at the University of Pristina Kosovo Commencement in 2018.
