During my time as the Commercial Graduate for Egger UK, I worked primarily in Commercial Projects, Sales and Customer Service. In Sales I was in charge of market research as well as being the Egger representative for customers who purchase and import Egger worktops. Research conducted primarily focused on customer showroom displays, quality of supplier service and overall areas for improvement. Main research focus was on market position and pricing strategy with regards to competitors. In commercial projects I successfully ran my own project researching, analysing and presenting a database listing commercial agreements in place between Egger and their Key accounts. Emphasis being placed on KPI’s, CM2 margins and bespoke production processes.

During my time at MDV I helped create promotional material for new products and assisted with ordering marketing material and ski equipment for partners and athletes. In addition to this, I also worked on Marketing projects for upcoming brand catalogues as well as conferences which helped me improve and hone my attention to detail.

Here I worked closely with the Australian and Vietnamese Marketing departments by organising and ordering their Point of Sale merchandise. I also supported the Sales Representative for Africa and the Middle East by sending promotional material to their clients as well as updating records on current partners. This really helped me to understand the importance of networking on both a domestic and international level, in addition to understanding client demands and expectations.

I carried out an extensive project researching and critiquing the CoSeDat website which is used for logging orders. This entailed having to work with the SAP business intelligence tool. I also researched, analysed and presented on where improvements could be made to the CoSeDat website and wrote a manual in both English and German, which was then used throughout the Egger Group. The benefit of this was being able improve and utilise my analytical skills in both Excel and SAP, as well as interpret real time data that was exported from the CoSeDat website.

While not directly relevant to corporate life, being a ski instructor gave me a great understanding of how to manage a team along with how to make decisions under pressure, along with how to adjust my approach of dealing with issues from people with different needs.

During my first internship after leaving school, I assisted with the ordering of materials and components for the factory as well as translating user manuals between English and German. I worked with the head of IT Controlling to research and present on where improvements could be made in processing large scale orders. This role really helped me to understand how large international corporations operate, but it also highlighted some inefficiencies that are present, no matter how successful a company is.
