The VLBA Station Specialist is a hands-on technical staff member skilled and experienced in multiple areas such as digital and analog electronics, mechanical hardware, HVAC systems, general site maintenance, and operations support. The position provides maintenance, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repair, data delivery and other work on the Very Long Baseline Array Station, including the 25-meter Antenna. The station includes Radio Frequency receiver and cryogenic systems, data and communications equipment, data recorders, recording media, servo control systems, mechanical drive equipment, and weather stations.

Operates and performs organizational and/or intermediate level maintenance on the TRIDENT II (D5) Backfit Weapon Systems, MK 98 MOD 6 Fire Control subsystems, Missile subsystems, Launcher subsystems, and associated support and test equipment. Performs operational readiness tests of systems and adheres to safety precautions applicable to missile explosive devices, missile hydraulics, and missile testing. Participates in missile handling evolutions.

Performs depot level maintenance on nuclear weapons. Encompasses three critical nuclear ordnance skill areas, Vertical Missile Packaging Branch (VMPB) Mate/Demate Technician, Service Unit Technician and Limit Life Component Exchange (LLCE) Technician. The VMPB Mate/Demate and Service Unit Technician performs handling, mating/demating, packaging/unpackaging and inspections of Re-entry Bodies (REB's). The LLCE Technician performs REB handling, packaging/unpackaging, inspections testing, and maintenance and replacement of REB limited life components.

Uss Georgia (Ssgn 726)

Operate and perform organizational and/or intermediate level maintenance on 726 Class SSGN Tomahawk missile subsystems, launcher subsystems, and associated support and test equipment. Perform operational readiness tests of systems and adhere to safety precautions applicable to missile explosive devices, missile hydraulics, and missile testing. Participate in missile evolutions. Assist in Special Operations Forces (SOF) operations as required.

•Waterfront Division Petty Officer: Supervised 35 military and 12 civilians in the completion of all operations for loading explosive ordnance at Explosive Handling Wharf (EHW) and Refit Piers in a high-stress environment with strict deadlines. Worked collaboratively with Navy, contractors, and civil service civilians to accomplish highly complex logistic operations.•Created and implemented training for waterfront personnel in all areas of operations to include Procedural Documentation (OD 71029, OP 4606), Special Weapons Ordnance Publications (SWOPs), Quality Assurance standards and operations, and TFIRR/TFR requirements and procedures.•Tomahawk Land Attack Handling Team Leader: As one of three Team Leaders, I trained and assisted in the qualification of 30 team members, and 8 team leaders. Did the initial procedural proofing for the first tomahawk handling and loading, and follow-on certification. •Contamination Control Station (CCS) Assistant Supervisor: Assisted in the establishment of CCS Hotlines, and radiation detection devices, coordinated personnel decontamination efforts, and assessment of existing CCS procedures during unit only and DOD multi-agency area exercises.
