Ed handles a wide range of litigation matters with a focus on the defense of high exposure tort claims, in the areas of product liability law, toxic tort, general and professional liability, as well as premises liability. Over the years, Ed has represented a wide-variety of clients from Fortune 500 Companies to small local businesses, as well as individuals in connection with the defense of matters which fall under their liability insurance policies. A significant portion of Ed’s practice over the years has been the defense of large and small companies, asbestos suppliers and brokers, as well as product manufacturers, in the defense of claims alleging asbestos exposure through either direct exposure through the handling or working in close proximity with raw asbestos and/or alleged asbestos containing products, as well as claims involving take-home exposures and environmental exposures. Ed also has experience in handling other toxic tort matters including claims of alleged Benzene exposure. Ed has handled all phases of litigation in both state and federal courts in Connecticut from pre-suit investigations through trial. Through this work, Ed has worked closely with national and in-house legal teams, as well as insurance company representatives, to develop defense strategies to ensure favorable outcomes for all clients. Ed also has extensive experience in insurance coverage matters providing opinions and recommendations to various insurance companies and/or bringing actions seeking judicial determinations related to coverage. Ed has also handled a significant amount of smaller cases involving fall-down incidents, motor vehicle accidents, and property damage claims for small local businesses through large national corporations and franchisors. Ed has represented employers and employees in defense of these cases through all aspects of litigation including arbitration and mediation of matters prior to trial.
