Explosive Safety Specialist
CurrentServed as the technical expert in explosives, ammunition, and weapon development testing safety requirements with responsibility for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and monitoring the effectiveness of the explosive's safety program Developed and implemented the explosives safety Management programs (ESMP)Created, reviewed, and amended explosive safety site plans, DARAD's, and issued Explosive Site Licenses.Monitored the effectiveness of safety and explosive policies and procedures put in place for potential safety and health hazards to employees, civilians, contractor personnel, and host nation's public that arose. Experience reviewing, updating, creating new Ammunition and Explosives Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs), Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), Training Plans, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) providing recommendations and controls as necessary. Participated in the design of new construction and maintenance and renovation of explosives facilities, ensuring compliance with explosives safety standards. Investigated ammunition and explosive accidents and incidents, and weapon-related accidents and incidents. Investigation of varied accident circumstances requires extensive expertise in accident investigation techniques, and expert knowledge regarding ammunition, explosives, and weapons systems. Perform Hazardous Analysis Working Group, (HAWGs) and Standard Operating Procedures. Ensure all protective works and equipment used within the explosive exclusion zones were operated in compliance with applicable DoD policy, Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB) approvals, and Federal, state, and local health and safety statutes, regulations, and codes. Maintained Unexploded Ordnance Project’s Potential Explosion Site (PES) list and prepared Explosives Site Licenses (ESL) as required by the installation and USACE. Prepared required UXO munitions response actions and/or range maintenance administrative reports.
