The facility is a separation technologies applied research center with a focus on liquid and gas separation applications in extreme conditions, such as high temperatures and pressures, low and high pH, and solvents. The center services industrial clients, as well as performing grant-funded applied research. Specialized test systems are built on an as needed basis. Managerial activities at the center include:• Direct activities at the center, including technical oversight, project budgeting, implementation of Environmental Health & Safety protocols, and chemical storage and handling. • Oversee projects, directing and advising staff on technical and financial decisions.• Evaluate proposed project equipment for technical functionality and cost. • Track and manage labor hours, timelines and budgets for projects in the center.• Perform and assist in the writing of industrial and government-funded grants, including project quoting, statement of work, and grant proposals & budgets. • Evaluate equipment needs of the center and assess the cost-benefit of potential purchases.

Shundahai Farm produces 40 different types of vegetables, 7 types of fruit, and has cattle for meat, compost, and dairy products. • Designed and built electrical and mechanical systems to improve efficiency and produce storage capabilities.• Led successful team by providing employees with clear objectives & expectations and giving feedback at regular reviews. • Improved crop yields by performing detailed crop analyses. Performed data normalization of yields for year-to-year productivity assessments and comparison to industry norms. Data normalization and smoothing algorithms made it possible to identify gaps and look for opportunities to improve production. Pratt & Whitney is a manufacturer of aircraft and power turbine engines. Pratt & Whitney designs, tests, manufactures, repairs, and monitors in-service engines. Experience includes working with teams to resolve in-service issues and implement solutions, as well as designing and testing aircraft engines as a performance engineer.• Identified cause of temperature exceedance issue and drove the issue to resolution. Led team that worked with airplane manufacturer and pilot advisor to come up with procedure to reduce occurrence of exceedances. Met with airline to convey findings and layout operating procedure change. Saved Pratt & Whitney $4 million in shop visit costs in the first year of implementation. Received award for efforts.• Led team through latter stage of engine development process, successfully coordinating with module centers to address technical challenges and meet program timing targets. Oversaw team in generating technical performance.• Modified engine control software to extend engine thrust capabilities, by working with module center and controls groups. Analyzed margins to limiting conditions for temperature, pressure and spool speeds over flight envelope; then adjusted air bleed schedule and stator vane schedule to modify spool speed at pinch condition. • Improved team processes by centralizing model information and standardizing verification processes. Reduced team’s turnbacks and improved workflow efficiency.
