My experience as a former medical student and healthcare assistant has given me well-practised interpersonal skills. I communicate information clearly and have often needed to think quickly and creatively under pressure. It is impossible to work on a hospital ward without being patient and compassionate to both colleagues and clients, traits that I have found particularly useful on film sets. Another skill that I have honed on the ward, and applied effectively to film making, is being able to read situations and anticipate problems, often negotiating their successful outcome.

Leading a staff team required me to keep everyone motivated and informed while always being conscious of the safety of both students and staff. It was important to delegate effectively to provide a varied and exciting activity program.
