The Maritime Institute offers over 100 U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and GWO approved courses in Norfolk, San Diego, Honolulu, Alameda, Guam, and Everett, continues to provide exportable training throughout the United States and Pacific Rim. Our customers include Government organizations such as the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command and NOAA; Civilian ship operators such as Crowley, Disney Cruise Lines, and Foss Maritime; Merchant Mariner Unions such as Sailor’s Union of the Pacific (SUP) and Marine Fireman’s Union (MFOW), and thousands of independent mariners each year. The company provides training to over 10,000 mariners annually, in topics that cover every aspect of shipboard operations and offshore wind training.

The U. S. Coast Guard Force Readiness Command (https://www.forcecom.uscg.mil) ensures the total force is mission-ready through performance-based training, career development, advanced education, doctrine, leader development, readiness assessments and major exercise contingency support. Personal duties include assisting and advising Admiral Joe Raymond and Dr. Gladys Brignoni with policy, strategy and outreach; facilitating communication between executive leaders and the ForceCom enterprise; monitoring the implementation of HR policies; developing leadership cadre; and liaison with DoD training, readiness and education programs.

The Deputy Commandant for Mission Support is responsible for all facets of life-cycle management for Coast Guard assets, from acquisition through decommissioning. Personal duties include assist and advise with policy, strategy, and outreach; monitor implementation and provide feedback on new human resource policies; develop leadership cadre; liaison and align efforts with Department of Defense and foreign Senior Enlisted Leaders; and establish and maintain close relationships with Service Organizations. Continue to utilize relationships with key partners (Navy, Army, Department of Labor, MERPAC and CMTS), experience with military to mariner credentialing and advanced education systems to influence workforce policy development and advance national military credentialing, certification and licensing systems.

Advisor to RADM Vincent B. Atkins, the Commander of Coast Guard District Fourteen in Honolulu Hi, on issues and initiatives impacting Coast Guard Members and their families. The district includes a 12.2 million square mile search and rescue coordination area and operations extending from the Hawaiian Islands, American Samoa, Guam, Saipan to Japan and the far east activities. Served as the primary administrator for the District’s Ombudsman Program. Also served as an advocate for the maritime community and military credentialing subject matter specialist.

Machinery Technician Rating Force Master Chief - Force Manager for a 400 million dollar personnel account. Responsible for career progression, professional and technical development, staffing standards, billeting structure, and translating attrition forecasting into training requirements. Assessed civilian competence for direct hires as rated petty officers and civilian hire requirements for wage grade/general schedule technician billets. Role as the senior Machinery Technician requires holistic oversight of the technical and professional development of the engineering workforce. Serve as the course manager, analysis subject matter expert and signature authority for the initial machinery technician military occupational specialty course and 39 advanced technical courses. Utilize education in military resilience, military to mariner credentialing and educations systems to influence workforce policy development.

Served 12 months as the assistant school chief managing student administration and staff development followed by two years as the school chief. Utilized background in adult development and education programs gained at the Coast Guard Academy and Army Sergeant's Major Academy to lead the first major course revision in 12 years, including the introduction of a Staff Ride to link history and strategy, adoption of green environmental practices and digital media, and an increased focus on inclusion and cultural competence.

Responsible for the professional development of the enlisted workforce, application of human resource policies and coordinating Critical Incident Stress Management events for the Coast Guard on Guam and Saipan. One of five military members that coordinated the Army, National Guard, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard's participation in the annual static displays and Liberation Parade.

Served as one of the first four Company Chief Petty Officers and was heavily involved in the establishment of the senior enlisted leader's role in the cadet developmental process.

Served as an instructor at the Chief Petty Officer Academy. Certified to facilitate low and high ropes teambuilding exercises, Increasing Human Effectiveness, MBTi, Institute for Global Ethics, Coast Guard History and Performance Improvement.

Served as the Engineering Petty Officer at Station Galveston and Chief Engineer on the Point Spencer (65 tons) and Manowar (105 tons). Responsible for executing and enforcing policies that governing the safe operation of the propulsion plant, auxiliary systems, hazardous materials program for the unit, and preparation of drydock contracts and planning.

USCGC Point Doran - Enforcement of marine fisheries, environmental compliance and commercial regulations in the regulated waters off Washington and Oregon.

Primary duties involved operation and maintenance of the main propulsion and auxiliary systems. The Coast Guard Cutter MIDGETT is 378 feet long and 36,000 shaft horsepower.

USCG Station Destin Florida - Enforced Marine Fisheries, Environmental Compliance and Commercial Regulations in Northern Florida. Duties included maintenance of standard boats, casualty control and rescue and assistance of the maritime community.
