WA Loves Nature is a Not For Profit organisation that promotes our State’s amazing (world-renowned) biodiversity and lets people know what they can do to support it. We do this with nature trails and installations in the urban environment. Our trails showcase the magic and wonder of our State’s plants, animals, and insects, and tell the stories of the amazing connections between them. We install habitat, artworks and signs and show people how they can also nurture nature.

City Canopy aims to create an extensive and healthy urban forest and green spaces to reduce city temperatures, add beauty and increase biodiversity. We will provide practical. drought tolerant solutions by working with the community to implement "greenspace" initiatives in and around homes, offices, streets and open spaces.

Over time this system grew to protect nearly 500 sites with such diverse issues as threatened species and communities, wetlands, biosecurity, organic farms, parks and reserves, Bushforever, contamination and landowner concerns. I oversaw the development of site-specific procedures for each site and liaised closely with staff and contractors, government departments (DPaW, EPA, LGAs) and landowners to minimise any impact. Where required I would personally oversee work and worked hard to get projects completed safely, on budget and in a timely manner.Other work during my nearly 20 years at Western Power included;Assisting with the coordination and training of an environmental management system based on ISO 14001;Auditing of the EMS to track performance and work towards continual improvement;Environmental Assessments for distribution and transmission projects.

I was initially contracted by Western Power to develop and implement a Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA) Management System (comprising databases, mapping systems and in-field signposting) to protect threatened species (from Western Power maintenance and construction activities) throughout Western Australia. Waste auditing and management at 10 Power Stations (when SECWA) and 25 Depots and offices.Trainer for ISO 14001, and Western Power’s documentation system, to all relevant staff at power stations and depots.Assisted with the Greening Challenge. A huge, 4 year, project that saw 4.2 million seedlings planted by Western Power volunteers and their families to combat salinity and increase biodiversity.
