Economic Justice Australia is the peak for community legal centres providing advice to people on their social security rights and entitlements. We support 22 members across every Australian state and territory, and advocate for a fairer and more accessible social security system.

I lead management of Justice Connect's relationships with more than 60 member law firms and their participation in pro bono legal service delivery. I also manage two of Justice Connect's legal services - the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court Self Representation Service, and the Public Interest Law referral service (in NSW).

I manage Justice Connect's Public Interest Law program in NSW. We connect disadvantaged individuals with unmet legal need with pro bono legal assistance, and work to build pro bono capacity within the legal profession.I also manage the Self Representation Service that Justice Connect operates in the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court in NSW, the ACT, Victoria and Tasmania.

The MOSAIC Project provides assistance to recently arrived migrants, refugees and asylum seekers with civil law issues. The Project facilitates connects to pro bono lawyers to meet the legal needs of this client group.

The Self Representation Service assists individuals who are unrepresented in bankruptcy, fair work, human rights/discrimination and judicial review matters in the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and the ACT. The Service harnesses the power of pro bono volunteer lawyers to provide discrete task-oriented assistance which enables clients to represent themselves.

The Cancer Council Pro Bono Program connects people affected by cancer with free legal, financial planning, workplace and small business assistance where they could not otherwise afford the cost of advice. Cancer Council NSW operates a national clearinghouse, referring clients to a panel of service providers who assist on a pro bono basis.

NTSCORP Ltd is the native title service provider for NSW and the ACT pursuant to the Native Title Act. My role here involved the provision of legal advice and assistance to Traditional Owners in NSW in the area of Native Title applications. I also provided advice in areas including property, environmental law, native title law, Aboriginal corporations law, mining law and culture and heritage law.Key achievements in this role included having primary carriage of a major Federal Court… Show more NTSCORP Ltd is the native title service provider for NSW and the ACT pursuant to the Native Title Act. As Associate to Rein J, my role involved legal research and assistance with drafting of judgments, management of chambers, including coordination of court lists, and liaison with solicitors, counsel and self-represented litigants.

In this contract role I undertook research and provided support in a range of social policy areas – including Charter of Rights, and City’s policies on public safety, sex work and homelessness.

During this period I was undertaking study for my Master of Laws (Human Rights and Social Justice) as well as undertaking several internships in Australia, Papua New Guinea and India.

I was part of a team of full-time research assistants working with Lindgren J on the production of a judgment in Harrington-Smith on behalf of Wongatha People v State of Western Australia, a series of eight overlapping native title claimant applications in the Goldfields region of WA. My role involved research and synthesis of large amounts of evidence, including assisting with plain English summaries of oral testimony given by more than one hundred Aboriginal witnesses on Country.
