Manage and operate United States Rocket Academy projects including Citizens in Space, the first program to combine citizen science and citizen space exploration. Responsibilities include supervising the training and ensuring the safety of citizen astronaut candidates, selection of citizen-science experiments for flight, and development of science prize competitions. Prior to Feb, 2012, Citizens in Space was known as Teachers in Space. I developed the Teachers in Space concept in 2005. Spaceflight training activities began that year with MiG-21 aircraft training flights. The program later grew to include suborbital flight simulations, unpowered aircraft flights, high-gee and zero-gee aircraft flights, parachute training, and other activities.I managed two major government proposals totaling over $1.5 million, leading to his selection as Principal Investigator on NASA K-12 Cooperative Agreement. As PI, I created professional-development workshops focusing on suborbital science, flight simulation, space medicine and human factors, managing and coordinating NASA, university, and industry partners. I managed press, public, and government relations including conducting press conferences at Holloman AFB, NASA Ames Research Center, and the United States Senate, appearing on national television; and addressing major educational and scientific conferences. I co-authored draft legislation related to Teachers in Space, developed legislative strategy, led lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill, and interfaced with the FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation.

Documented Visual Studio debugger, Visual Studio debugger SDK, IntelliTrace, Visual Studio for Macintosh, and other Visual Studio features. Lead writer for Visual Studio debugger documentation. Created and executed documentation plans. Supervised contractors, tested and documented debugger features, and developed code samples to demonstrate debugger features and debugging techniques. Served on Visual Studio documentation model committee; later managed transition of all debugger documentation from printed format to online documentation. Served on Visual Studio Team Foundation tiger team.

Responsible for all management and marketing activities. Oversaw flight operations of a MiG-21UM supersonic fighter/trainer and engineering feasibility study of a MiG-21 jet-to-rocket conversion intended for use as an aerospace trainer. Handled sponsor and partner relations. Marketed the Russian Eagle jet aerobatic team to the airshow industry.

Responsibility for user and systems-level documentation of a Windows/UNIX-based client-server software system.

Developed and wrote automatic-vehicle-identification (AVI) and electronic-toll-system (ETS) proposals for public and private agencies in the United States and Great Britain, working individually and as part of a proposal team.

Updated mortgage-system documentation and converted legacy documentation to Framemaker format.

Created user- and system-level documentation for AVI and ETS software and embedded hardware. Co-authored a hardware maintenance manual for an AVI installation at Salt Lake City airport.

Developed, tested, debugged, and maintained software to interface Macintosh computers with laboratory instruments and collect visual-acuity data.

Wrote the First Edition of the CONVEX Performance Analyzer User's Guide, CONVEX FORTRAN Optimization Guide, CONVEX C Optimization Guide, CONVEX Application Compiler User's Guide, CONVEX Application Advisor User’s Guide, CONVEX PDB Viewer Guide and online help pages. Worked closely with developers and made extensive hands-on use of Convex software, including coding, testing, profiling, and optimizing of numerous example programs. Developed the functional look and style for the development-software group’s first online help system. Helped design the graphical interface for the CONVEX PDB Viewer software-engineering tool. Planned and conducted the first software usability testing at Convex. Served as project leader for team updating all CONVEX C-language documentation. Served as editorial reviewer for the first CONVEX Style Guide. Provided Macintosh technical support for the Convex development-software group. Evaluated publishing software for Convex documentation groups. Interviewed candidates for writing, editorial, software, and management positions. Served on the company rescue team and taught classes in CPR.

Edited a quarterly magazine covering space industries for a professional audience including businessmen, scientists, engineers, astronauts, military officers, and members of Congress. Wrote numerous articles on space industrialization. Planned theme and content for each issue, assigned and solicited articles, edited articles, and worked with the production manager to design article and page layout. Established overall editorial policy, covered Space Shuttle missions and other news events, and developed marketing and advertising campaigns.
