This $54.1-million Project consists of constructing a new trumpet interchange and 4-lane C-D System adjacent to I-75 between Alico Road and Daniels Parkway, and constructing a new 1-mile access road (Terminal Access Road,) a partial single point urban interchange at Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, and ultimately tying in to the existing SWFIA Mid-Field Terminal facility roadway. Significant components of the work include: construction of new bridge structures over I-75 and Ben Hill Griffin, as well as, three bridges over Gator Canal; roadway and ramp improvements at 2 Interchanges; retaining walls; lighting; excavation and embankment; new drainage including new ponds; signalization, ITS and landscaping and irrigation.

Mar 2010 - Oct 2012Mr. Santana served on the FDOT D-1, I-75 Widening Project from North River Road to North of the Venice Connector (SR 681) in Sarasota County. This $31.7-million Project consisted of widening 9.4-miles of I-75 from 4 to 6 lanes and includes realignment of the southbound lanes between Laurel Road and SR 681. Significant components of the work included: construction of new bridge structures over Cow Pen Slough and Salt Creek, as well as, widening of 6 other bridge structures; roadway and ramp improvements at 3 Interchanges; retaining walls; lighting; subsoil excavation and embankment; new drainage including 19 new ponds; signalization and landscaping.

Senior Project EngineerMetric Engineering, Inc. Mar 2007 - Apr 2011Mr. Santana served on the FDOT D-1, I-75 Roadway Expansion (iROX) Project in Southwest Florida. This $457-million Design-Build Project involved expansion of I-75 from 4 to 6 lanes along a 30-mile segment from Golden Gate Parkway in Collier County to Colonial Boulevard (SR 484) in Lee County. Significant components of the work included: widening of 22 existing bridges and 2 new bridges; 1-million tons of limerock base; one new inside mainline lane and 10-ft paved shoulder; over 30 miles of guardrail/cable barrier system; 1.75-million square yards of asphalt milling; 400,000 tons of Superpave Asphalt Pavement; 2-million CY of earthwork; over 13 miles of drainage pipe culvert & 23 retention/detention ponds; signalization; over 240 miles of pavement markings, as well as, noise wall and other related activities. This project received the 2010 FTBA Best in Construction Award. Mr. Santana was also responsible for the I-75/Bonita Beach Road Design-Build Improvements Project.
