At the suggestion of the Tech Transfer Office, Mr. Tracy transferred to NREL’s Legal Department in 2008 to take advantage of his vast technical perspectives/experience in the renewable energy field with respect to patent preparation and prosecution. In his new capacity as a Senior Administrator-Technical Specialist, Mr. Tracy interacts with the technical staff on a variety of intellectual property matters and continues to provide guidance/perspective to several NREL research projects. Mr. Tracy became associated with RCA laboratories in 1967 as an honors student on a work-study project from the College of New Jersey studying closed-tube vapor deposition of electro luminescent quaternary compounds. Upon completion of his B.A. in Physical Science in 1968 (Magna Cum Laude), Mr. Tracy abandoned his career in education and returned to RCA Labs as a Research Associate in the Recording Materials Processing Group working on open-tube vapor deposition of ferromagnetic semiconductors.… Show more Mr. Tracy became associated with RCA laboratories in 1967 as an honors student on a work-study project from the College of New Jersey studying closed-tube vapor deposition of electro luminescent quaternary compounds. In 1971, he joined the Glass Research Group to work on a variety of pioneering projects including surface ion depletion of glass, injection of ions into glass from a glow discharge, dc-plasma deposition of amorphous materials, and basic studies into the thermoelectric effects of ion-conducting glasses. In 1975, Mr. Tracy became involved with integrated circuit technology as a member of the Solid State Process Research Group.
