I am a veteran of the United States Coast Guard who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Systems Science & Policy from California State University, Monterey Bay, and an Associate's Degree in Biotechnology from MiraCosta College.At CSUMB, I specialized in Geographic Information Systems, wetlands ecology, and marine cartography. My capstone thesis examined the tidal scour erosion issue in Elkhorn Slough, California, and the remediation and stabilization issues related to that ongoing problem.Since graduation, I have been working as a GIS consultant and contractor. I feel that I have taken short-term contracting as far as I can, and now seek a stable, long-term, career-oriented position, learning about our world and mediating our impact upon it.I have extensive ArcGIS and ArcView experience, both as a student and in contract positions I have held since graduation, using ArcView 3 as well as ArcGIS 8 and 9. I have compiled and integrated a wide range of data types, including CAD files, sonar bathymetry, LIDAR, USGS quad maps, visual and hyperspectral photography, and TIGER census data. I have collected original data, designed and revised GIS databases, created and printed maps using high-resolution plotters, and scanned and georeferenced full-sized maps and landscape blueprints using a large-scale scanner. In addition to ArcGIS, I have worked with other GIS and Remote Sensing software, including ERDAS Imagine, TNT/MIPS, and ENVI image analysis software.
