Moved forward to the Management Team of D&MS as Head of Projects. Within this role I am responsible for the overall control, planning and realization of the different projects that run within our organisation. The MT role secures the quality, as well as the improvements to be taken within our project organisation. This in close cooperation with Engineering, Service and Support.

D&MS is a system integrator company and was founded during the split-off of the ‘Systems Group’ of Philips Broadcast Television Systems. The core business of D&MS is to provide advice, engineering, implementation and project management of Video/Audio/IP based projects. Within D&MS, I take the role as Project Manager, as well as System Engineer. This means I fully manage, design and implement the projects for the customers at which I am assigned to. D&MS designed and implemented many studio’s for regional, public and commercial broadcasters, a respectable number of ‘Outside Broadcast Trucks’’, SNG Vans and high-end production suites. D&MS is running upfront into the transistion from the traditional boadcast environment to the new IP environment and next generation Video/Audio/IP based networks.

Thomson/GrassValley is the world leading company in digital video technology. Thomson develops these technologies, whereas the products and services are sold under the GrassValley brand-name. Within the Customer Service Centre, performing in a small dedicated team of engineers, we are responsible for all service/project activities towards the customers. This involves the installation, configuration, commissioning, acceptance testing and in the end hand-over of our projects. Think of television studio’s, master control rooms, network operation centers, play-out centers, video compression systems and the network distribution systems, which all require specific experience and knowledge.

Amsterdam

The Chellomedia (Liberty Global) Digital Media Centre, provides a full range of broadcast services for channel production, origination and distribution. The engineering department of the DMC is responsible for the design, configurations and the maintenance of the complete technical environment. This involves all the subsystems of the broadcast chains like ingest, playout, the encoding and multiplexing systems, the CA systems as well as the satellite uplink and downlinks. My expertise is focused at the DVB/MPEG encoding and multiplexing systems as well as the conditional access systems. Additional responsibilities are the maintenance aspects of all technical elements as can be found in the DMC and keep them operational (Studio, Playout, NOC, MCR). This to secure a robust delivery in the end of DVB signals to DTH (satellite direct to home) customers and cable operators throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Hilversum / Eindhoven

Philips Digital Networks is specialized at the encoding, compression and digital transmission of video, audio and data signals. Within the integration and test center, which is part of research and development, I am responsible for the availability of the entire test and integration system environment used for encoding, compression and the satellite uplink. This consists out of the installation, integration, configuration and maintenance of these test and development systems. Other responsibilities are to supply support for development engineers in case of development problems and try-outs. A fascinating and challenging aspect is the examination and reproduction of problems which arise at systems within in the field.
