I am currently working on a new startup built on top of emerging techniques for using natural language to tell computers what to do.Previously, I was the cofounder and CTO of Body Labs, a successful computer vision startup (acq. by Amazon in 2017) focused on predicting an individuals shape and movement from images, videos or a wide variety of 3D data. Within Amazon, I became head of Body Labs in 2019 and helped integrate Body Labs tech into several flagship Amazon product launches. If you're interested in learning more about how natural language, machine learning and computer vision are being used to create software, products and businesses, please consider subscribing to my LinkedIn newsletter

Co-Founder & Vp Of Product DesignBody Labs Mar 2013 - Nov 2016Founded in 2013, Body Labs is spinning out computer vision and machine learning technology developed at Brown University and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. We provide the world's most statistically accurate 3D models of human shape, pose and motion. These models, combined with our extensive expertise in computer vision, computer graphic and machine learning, allow us to accurately predict an individuals shape and movement from images, videos or a wide variety of 3D data.

Senior Research ScientistMax Planck Institute For Intelligent Systems Mar 2011 - Mar 2013Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, DeAs a senior research scientist at the MPI for Intelligent System, I worked under MPI Director Michael Black as a founding member of his Perceiving Systems Department. I helped manage a team of computer vision researchers, collectively working together to build the world’s most accurate statistical model of human pose and shape.Through a combination of basic and applied research, data collection, and software engineering, we created tools and algorithms for learning highly accurate 3D models from large corpuses of 3D scan data. We also demonstrated the ability fit these models to noisy data, such as RGB-D images captured from a first generation XBOX Kinect. After two years we decided to commercialize our technology and formed Body Labs. -
Computer Science PostdocBrown University Jun 2010 - Mar 2011Providence, Rhode Island, UsAs a postdoc working under Prof. Michael Black, I worked on projects involving computer vision, machine learning and user interaction. Our groups work centered on generating realistic 3D body models from 3D scan data, video and photographs. We focused on developing increasingly accurate models of human shape and pose which could be fit to real world data. We also pursued web-based interfaces and applications that made use of these models.
