My task was to collect experimental data on both static and pulsed microwave plasmas. For this, I built and employed several setups to study the light emitted by the plasma (passive spectroscopy) and also the energy spread and intensity of laser light scattered on the plasma (active spectroscopy, Thomson scattering). I combined the results obtained with different methods, which made it possible to draw conclusions regarding density and energy distributions and their temporal behavior in pulsed plasma operation. For processing the experimental data and to simulate the optics used, I gained a lot of experience in using Matlab.Grade: 8.5 Show less

More specifically my goal was to validate the electromagnetic field profile (operation mode). A problem occurred because the chosen mode was degenerate. I proposed a new design using a non-degenerate mode. A different solution was chosen that did not need a new cavity but only a modification. For the systems that worked I made a scheme of pros and cons and implemented the system that came out best (inductive conductivity sensor). This system I then calibrated and I implemented it (on paper) in the existing programmable controller schemes. After calibration it turned out that there were no financial gains compared to the current situation of refreshing the solution manually after a fixed time, so the system was not implemented on a larger scale.
