Most recently I joined the radiology department as part of the Interventional Radiology team. I am able to utilize my critical care background in a unique and dynamic setting. Our particular field of work requires tremendous teamwork and I enjoy working in that type of environment. Our team works with the Interventional Radiologist to perform a wide variety of procedures. I provide moderate/conscious sedation while monitoring and recovering the patient. I assist the MD and technologists in setting up for and performing procedures. I administer medications and monitor patients receiving cardiac CTs, I monitor pacemaker patients receiving MRIs, administer medications required for nuclear medicine tests and insert IV lines and draw blood. In 2016 I transitioned back to bedside care in the acute care setting. I was frequently assigned as charge nurse to coordinate care and flow on the unit and provide clinical support to the floor nurses and support staff. Served as a resource/mentor to new nurses. I took part in creating a committee that worked to develop and implement an aromatherapy program for the hospital and serve to provide competency validation for nurses wishing to participate. Case Management/Care Coordination and Utilization Management experience. I have forged many positive relationships with insurance company CMs, Physicians, SNF and CHHA intake coordinators to help facilitate the best outcomes and safest discharge plans for patients. I help keep Physicians compliant with CMS admission criteria and meeting Milliman Criteria. I work to ensure optimal utilization of services and prevent avoidable days, reduce length of stay and prevent readmissions.More than 20 years experience in Critical and Emergency Care including large, Urban teaching hospitals and small, local community hospitals.13 years experience in home care, visiting nursing including accessing community services and coordinating with multiple different subspecialties and physicians.Preceptor to nursing students as well as to new critical care nurses.Specialties: Milliman Criteria, Observation status, Meditech, Midas.
