I have worked as a specialist in communications throughout the Pacific Northwest since 2010. In my current role with Mendocino Redwood Company I get to engage with the community of people who are neighbors to nearly 450,000 acres of prime Redwood and Douglas-fir timberlands. My work is public-facing and daily I get to focus on workforce development, tribal relations, agency collaboration, as well as just functioning as a liaison to the public. What inspires me most about this work? I believe we all have complex relationships to our bioregions, that when we love our home, we need to think critically about the land we live on, and also have solutions to the needs of the people there as well. The best way to do this work is to build relationships where we understand the land, the people, and the agencies and non-profits that regulate our home that is good for the environment but can also sustain the people living there.
