I worked for 13 weeks as a Software Development intern alongside the Platform team. This was my 3rd and final co-op rotation for Proofpoint, and it was carried out entirely remotely. Working remotely was a new and intimidating experience, but it taught me valuable skills that I will be able to utilize as I continue to learn and improve in my future academic and professional careers.Over the course of the rotation, my main focus was on completing tasks and developing skills such as:• Taking on bug tickets from the company’s JIRA ticketing system in order to diagnose and remedy code issues• Creating and running scans and generating reports with the goal of eliminating potential vulnerabilities in the codebase• Updating the Platform team on my progress in daily standup meetings and learning of new bug tickets in daily triage meetings• Communicating clearly and effectively with coworkers in a remote setting

I interned as a member of the Business Intelligence Quality Assurance team, with most of my time being occupied by:• Creating automation tests (filter, end-to-end, smoke) for unreleased products• Discovering, diagnosing, and documenting bugs found with the automation tests to later discuss in daily standup meetings• Communicating between departments in order to figure out the source of difficult bugs and how they could be resolved• Participating in bi-weekly sprint planning sessions where I gave input on which bugs I thought needed to be prioritized to help form the next sprint. Among my primary responsibilities were:• Testing and providing extensive feedback on various training materials. I worked 3-4 months at Proofpoint as a Customer Support Co-op Intern through the University of Pittsburgh. My primary responsibilities were:• Assisting with improving the data integrity of the customer support team’s ticketing system. I made informed decisions after reviewing ticket backlog and successfully assisting with closing 124 tickets from the backlog, which resulted in a 29% increase in accuracy.• Learning and using the company’s JIRA ticketing system to successfully research, submit, and track JIRA support tickets over the course of the co-op program. I also assisted management with a weekly issue tracking report using this knowledge of JIRA.• Assisting with a major database integration project to ensure business continuity between the customer support team. I worked closely with the project management team, the customer support management team, the UAT team, and various stakeholders for the project. I discovered, tested, and documented unexpected behavior in JIRA to ensure a smooth transition between databases. After testing was completed, I assisted in creating a written guide for support engineers to reference while adjusting to the new database.• Provisioning new orders. I created 240+ cases to assist with end of quarter activities.• Extending licenses for existing customers to provide continuity of customer access during end of quarter.• Testing various roles in the Customer license provisioning tool to document the access levels for specific roles.• Identifying Knowledge Base articles most frequently viewed by customers based off of Google analytics.• Identifying and documenting customer product shipment requests that needed additional attention for fulfillment.
