A $4mil Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency project focusing on identifying key attributes on how different medical experts make difficult decisions in triage. This data then informs an algorithm to assist in making complex and rapid decisions in a dynamic situation. For this effort, I have heavily researched Bounded Rationality theory, collaborated with medical subject-matter experts to create realistic study scenarios, ensure our data aligns with other collaborators, and developed study materials launched to participants.A $2mil US Navy project focusing on developing an engaging communication trainer for highly specific mission-related terminology, like Naval Air Training Operating Procedures Standardization. For this effort, I focus heavily on creating user interface mock-ups that facilitate engaging learning through user experience best practices and conducting user testing to inform our AI-enabled speech capability and after-action review.I was the co-author in winning a quarter million-dollar Defense Health Agency proposal focusing on developing adaptable simulation tools to facilitate medical training in extreme cold austere environments. I was promoted from Research Intern to full-time Research Associate in three months and promoted to Research Scientist in another nine months.

Navy Task Force One: Supporting the Department of Navy’s initiative to promote diversity and inclusion by developing research-based training and education. Learning material and assessments organized based on the Kirkpatrick Model and requirements of the Navy. Created content on and employed ERAU’s CANVAS platform to enhance delivery of training and provide access to more than 20,000 Navy Sailors on and offline. Periodically conduct item analyses on assessment and gather feedback from stakeholders and students to determine areas for improvement.Department of Energy Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition - EcoCAR Mobility Challenge:As a first semester PhD student, I was selected by Human Factors faculty to serve as Human-Machine Interface/User Experience (HMI/UX) Lead for the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge project, a Department of Energy and General Motors sponsored competition against 10 other university in North America. I led a team with 20 undergraduate and graduate students for two academic years. We were tasked to develop an engaging tool to teach consumers about a complex safety feature: adaptive cruise control (ACC) in the Chevrolet Blazer. As a team, we conducted user needs research, competitive analyses against other car manufacturers, hierarchical task analyses of using ACC, developed a prototype mobile application, and conducted user testing. We collected and analyzed data from over 1000 participants regarding the effectiveness and user experience of the prototype. It was critical for me to practice effective leadership by promoting transparency, open communication, and consistent feedback. As a team, we placed second in final technical report and third in final competition.
