As project coordinator, I was responaible for managing all stages of a variety of projects, including translation, DTP, subtitling and interpreting, often in multiple languages, by liaising with freelance talent to secure quality work at a reasonable cost.

A 4-month internship to gain experience in project management within the marcomms industry, with a focus on transcreation and localisation.I was responsible for running projects from beginning to end, learning to allocate projects, negotiate budgets with third-party freelance suppliers and organise deadlines.

I wrote and presented speeches for MA Conference Interpreting and Translation Studies students to interpret from English into Chinese. I also offered language support and gave advice on interpreting technique from my own experience.

I spent 10 weeks working on the hotel reception, welcoming guests and arranging bookings alongisde French colleagues. I was also responsible for payments and opening the hotel in the mornings. Nearly all guests were French and so my language skills were used on a daily basis both in person and over the phone, improving my understanding of accents and colloquialisms while teaching me how to remain calm and professional in sometimes difficult situations.

I was responsible for organising tours for school and uniform groups in Paris. I planned the daily schedules, ticket bookings and transport. I liaised with coach drivers (both English and French) to ensure efficient travel for the group and was required to do some French - English interpreting in medical situations in addition to speaking with French staff and guests. Plans did not always go as planned due to unforeseen changes in itineraries so quick-thinking was required on my part to ensure all parties were happy with alternative options.
