I support South West museums to develop and maintain excellence and diversity in their involvement of volunteers at all levels.

Oversaw the co-ordination of a regional skills programme including contracting external programme delivery and evaluation. Provided advice and support in the areas of: volunteer management, recruitment, co-ordination and development in museums, museum skills development, museum governance and legal frameworks, organisational sustainability, and community engagement. Supported/co-ordinated county and regional support networks for museums, including the South West Heritage Volunteering Forum which I instigated. Project development, event and partnership delivery; bid writing.

Co-ordination of a region-wide skills development programme for the wider (non Hub) museum community as part of the Renaissance in the Regions' museum development programme; co-ordination of and support to hub museum staff workforce development.

Provided Accreditation advice, assessment and support to 230 museums in the South West. Regional launch of the Accreditation standard in 2005 and supported and assessed new applications.

I made new acquisitions from Manchester's animation industries and radio broadcasters in Manchester, for a new 'communications' gallery. Worked on a new Collecting and Partnerships policy for Community History. Worked on a community-led temporary history exhibition with partners in East Manchester.

Collections management and development, loans management, successful Heritage Lottery and PRISM grant funding bids to enable new acquisitions, partnership working with other regional textile industry museums to develop training videos for operating historic textile machinery, oral history and contemporary collecting.
