I am a GIS Research Analyst at the Association for State Floodplain Management (ASFPM) working on various projects that are focused on providing technical assistance and guidance to flood-prone communities across the country. Although my official title is GIS Research Analyst, I am involved in all aspects of a project from mapping floodplains to organizing public-engagement events. Currently, I am working on a project in collaboration with Coastal State Organization (CSO) that aims to enhance coastal resilience to flood hazards by increasing community engagement in repetitive flood loss mitigation projects and plans. My role in this project is to engage with state and local stakeholders, and develop best practices that will guide on the ground training, workshops and webinars for communities. Due to climate change and sea level rise, flooding is a growing issue across the US. I am passionate about studying dynamic coastlines and how communities are increasing their capacity to lower flood risks in rapidly expanding floodplains. In my free time, I enjoy paddling, biking, rock climbing, and backpacking with my adventure dog, Kepler.
