Responsible for coordinating services for oncology patients including scheduling, financial and program enrollment and ensuring communication process is complete for patients and referring physicians who refer to the Infusion Suite and practice in the HEMONC clinic. Answers and triages calls to the Infusion Suite and HEMONC clinic. Will process all orders placed in the EPIC system for MEDONC patients. Reviews all EPIC accounts to make sure that there is a financial note from the Infusion Suite, complete online MSP for all Medicare patients on each month's account, authorizations must be in place in the pre-cert screens and also in the account notes. Re-verifies all EPIC account notes and Medicaids at the beginning and end of each month. Accept and process incoming referrals to the Infusion Suite for return and new patients from HEMONC clinic providers, clinical trials staff and off service providers. Verifies that all documentation is in place, signed, timed and dated orders, consents, etc. Completes all medical necessity checks on all Infusion Suite referrals (Caremedic) and financial checks must be completed as well. Notifes the Shands Infusion Pharmacy and Shands Social Workers on all charity, medical needy referrals or new drug referrals. Coordinates Radiation Oncology appointments with RadOnc staff. Secures authorizations or medical necessity coding issues. Enrolls patients in drug company programs. Schedules the Infusion and Clinic appointment. Coordinate Home Health nursing if necessary. Verifies insurance coverage and benefits, obtaining prior authorizations, preparing, communicating and explaining estimates for multiple services prior to service, in-depth financial counseling, and obtaining sponsorship for uninsured, and updating demographic and financial data. Participates as the key communicator in the planning, scheduling, communication and educating process between the physician, patient, nurse and payer to produce a flawless process.
