About Elexis Webster
As a diligent graduate with a background in Political Science, Public Policy, and Human Rights & Migration from UC San Diego, I am eager to leverage my academic knowledge and personal experiences to make a positive impact in the lives of others. My focus on Public Policy and Human Rights & Migration has equipped me with a deep understanding of the legal frameworks that shape our society and the profound implications they have on individuals. Having experienced homelessness during my childhood and navigating the foster care system during my teens, I intimately understand the real-world consequences of policy decisions. Now, I am driven to bridge the gap between policy-making and its impact through advocacy, education, and public service initiatives. I am confident that my diverse perspective and approach would be a valuable asset to any non-profit or corporation dedicated to creating meaningful change.

Ophthalmic Assistant
As an Ophthalmic Assistant, I perform Visual Field and/ or Color Vision Testing on patients. At the start of each examination, I perform Spectacle Refractions to calculate the proper distance lens(es) for each patient. The Visual Field Test is a three part examination so I instruct each patient at the start of each test portion. The Visual Field Test can last between 15-30 minutes, so I encourage patients throughout the examination. This role required that I adhere to the patient schedule both strictly and flexibly. As an Ophthalmic Assistant, I was required to perform each test in the allotted time window to ensure that all the patients on the schedule were on time to the next appointment. I also had to be flexible to adjust to quick changes to the patient schedule and my shift duties. These shift duty adjustments sometimes required that I assist with Prescription Refill Request by accessing Patient Medical Records via EPIC adhering to HIPAA regulations. At other times, these shifts required that I screen patients for Covid-19 symptoms.
