Hello, it's lovely to connect with you! My name is Emily Lorra Hines, and I am a devoted water nerd and activist. Let's dive into (pun included) what that means: Currently, I am the Director of the Forum for Leadership on Water (FLOW). Here, I represent 15 incredible environmental experts with a combined total of over 300 years of experience. My job is to work with governments to create a better, more sustainable water future for Canadians. As a non-partisan NGO, we have worked across political parties to help establish the Canada Water Agency, a first-of-its-kind entity, and continue to push to have freshwater issues on the political agenda. For a better idea of what we do, please go to www.flowcanada.org In terms of activism, I think it is imperative to bring youth to the table to work across generations for the best solutions to the climate crisis. To this extent, I have been honoured to: - Moderate a COP26 panel - Speak at the UN High-Level Panel on SDG 6 - Be name a Water Canada Emerging Leader - Speak at the Centre Stage in World Water Week - Testify in front of the Federal Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development - Speak at a Massey College Debate on the future of activism I love communications, infographics and speaking with passion, enthusiasm and fun. I have a diverse professional background, with an MSc from Oxford University in Water Science, Policy and Management, and multiple professional certificates in Digital Marketing and communications.
