People need software stuff done. People like me do it.More often than not, people need advice regarding their project or product. People like me give it.At an expert level, I can most certainly help with Ruby or Node web apps or backend systems.If need be, I can tweak, fix, or update any part of the supporting infrastructure.I can help manage business or peripheral data, whether within a self-hosted database infrastructure or in any data cloud.I have some level of proficiency in a variety of languages, from PHP/Python in the dynamic world to C/Go in the static world. I use some of my contract work downtime to sharpen my skills or acquire new ones - expect updates!

The job consists of :- developping the letitcast.com applications, which include a number of modern rails apps connected to a shared backend- running the services using a cloud service provider. we keep it mostly neat and simple using chef.- the stack contains: some edge rails, activerecord (+ tasty handmade SQL), resque, some nodejs, some clientside js too.

Worked on several different software projects, which had really varying specifics. - wrote a prototype private cloud management software using ruby, libvirt, KVM and SL6.0+ (+ lots of other linuxy tech)- deployed / maintained a sizeable (50+ nodes) HDFS (+ other Hadoop stuff) cluster, using puppet and internal scripts - proof of concepted various distributed/clustered software deployments, on tech such as : cassandra, zookeeper, hbase, glusterfs, mongodb ...- helped running the ops for internal and or external services, using tech such as : cobbler, homebrew scripts, puppet, nagios ...- wrote a high performance ad server using ruby and eventmachine, handling about 400 QPS back then. (I'd recommend nodejs to do anything similar nowadays though). the accounting side of this used some neat high performance mysql tricks :)(+ other things. I know it looks action packed : it was.)

Taught the operating systems course, in cooperation with fellow LSE intern Julian (~ 50 students in 2008).Alongside with it, we assisted the students undertaking the kaneton microkernel project, during which they write a (good amount of) microkernel.We inherited and improved on the microkernel testing/grading facility. It involved python and RS232, amongst lots of other things.---Also a great place to have been at - lots of nice and interesting issues have been (and are still being) confronted, then tamed by LSE members.
