I grew up on a fifth-generation farm and orchard in rural Nebraska, and from there I received my Bachelor's from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln before returning to rural life to work in a local bronze foundry and for a commercial/residential electrician. I also helped kickstart a local church plant in Peru, Nebraska to help fill a missing niche in that community. In 2022, I was hired on with the Nebraska Public Power District at Cooper Nuclear Station in operations. Since then, I have qualified as a Non-Licensed, or Station, Operator, and I have been accepted to License Class starting Fall 2024. As a station operator, I prepare for upcoming fieldwork by intrusively walking down tasks to eliminate or mitigate safety hazards and human performance error traps. During tasks, we work as a team to safely operate the plant to protect other workers and plant equipment. As a crew, we work together to ensure we are all prepared and have a shared mental model of our tasks, encouraging each other to build proficiency and learn something new daily. When assigned a "building" or "watchstation," I take ownership of the building and ensure issues are identified and documented and/or fixed promptly. I also attend Oklahoma State University to earn a Master's of Business Administration.Although my lines of work have been technical (pouring bronze, wiring houses, operating power plant systems), I am also passionate about literature, art, and symbolism, so you may find me musing over a cup of coffee with my wife, a friend, or coworker about Greco-Roman classics, the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, or Jonathan Pageau's most recent podcast with Richard Rohlin.
