I am a co-principal investigator a grant funded by Penn State. We are studying social capital in Certified Economic Development Organizations (CEDOs), the networks of organizations CEDOs work with, and the CEDOs's embeddedness with their local communities to see if social capital contributes to more desirable outcomes at the community level.

I've volunteered on the developer forums of an exciting new computer game called "Eco"​, where players build civilizations in connection to the environment and ecosystem in which they live. I'm helping them brainstorm ideas to enable Eco to also be a research tool for public policy and environmental scientists to better understand how societies work, how our individual and aggregate choices affect ourselves, and many other social and environmental science research questions whose answers may be vital for ensuring our continued survival and ability to thrive on this or any planet.

I worked to improve the quality of life for people throughout the State of Colorado through capacity building at Downtown Colorado Inc. I oversaw and helped mentor a team of AmeriCorps VISTAs that were stationed throughout the State of Colorado in small, rural communities.

I developed, executed, and helped develop evaluation tools for a financial literacy program with the United Way of Pickens County. I worked to fight poverty at the local level. I assisted with the technical implementation of Community Force Grants Software. I presented at Impact Council meetings on the state of Pickens County. I taught United Way staff on how to create effective graphics and methods for evaluating programs' impact in the community.

My job is to reach out to community leaders and citizens and help communities come together, stronger than ever, after natural disasters strike them. My role with FEMA is to help coordinate (not lead or dictate) the recovery effort in accordance with the expressed needs and desires of the affected communities.
