I wrote a report for City staff that explores implementing a policy giving preference to Berkeley residents in the tenant selection process for City-funded affordable housing. For my research, I developed case studies of preference policies in five cities by examining reports and legislation and conducting ten interviews with city staff, attorneys, and affordable housing developers.

Reviewed and summarized over 300 public comments on the Adeline Corridor Specific Plan.Drafted findings for three Environmental Impact Report chapters based on my analysis of data from Berkeley’s Housing Element, the Census Bureau, and the Plan Bay Area 2040 regional plan.

I conducted statistical and spatial analyses of Census Bureau data using Stata and ArcGIS to document the mobility patterns of low-income people of color in nine Bay Area counties. Based on this research, I co-wrote a report with the California Housing Partnership titled “Rising Housing Costs and Re-Segregation in the San Francisco Bay Area.”

Updated BRIDGE Housing’s data collection and analysis of community conditions, strengths, and needs near their affordable housing sites. Identified data sources for social and economic indicators and organized data from publicly available datasets. Designed layout, created visualizations, and wrote content for a reporting tool that summarizes neighborhood conditions at the census tract level.

Answered calls from throughout Colorado and gave callers individualized support for housing-related issues. Assessed callers’ needs and supplied them with relevant information and resource referrals. Partnered with local service providers to identify new resources and better serve callers.
