I am an ecologist by training, but the skills I have gained across my degrees and work experience is wide-ranging and easily transferable. Currently, I'm working with the Ocean Biodiversity Information System (OBIS) as their Capacity Development Officer, producing training resources on data standardization for publishing and using controlled vocabulary. In this role I use a variety of my skills and background knowledge in marine science to create training content for an international audience. I developed a fondness for organizing and analyzing data through my PhD, as my thesis involved collecting information from >1300 different published works. I am highly motivated and have fostered good communication skills through the >12 public presentations I have given. I have assisted with, taught, and/or developed 10 different classes and courses mostly centered around biology or martial arts.I am especially drawn to work that allows me to combine my data analysis, data management, and teaching skills, and am always willing to learn more. Outside of research, I am very active in the martial arts community and find a balance between work life and life on the mats.
