In the fast changing environment of business, expectations have no limits and a skill in agility is vital for survival. In my education I studied how to use the design process as a new angle in how to work in business. That knowledge and skill brings a new perspective to the way things have always been done in business. I have learned about communication, basics of design, business analysis in a new dimension, law, design thinking, strategy design, service design, innovation, marketing and branding.

As COO I was working with every aspect of the company. My responsibilites included amongst others:-planning and meeting financial budgets-management of store operations-supply management-logistics-communication with Inditex in Spain-market analysis-human resource management-customer serviceIt was a challenge to take on the company in a place where it was in need of overhaul in every aspect. Building a team that was capable of working together towards goals and demands such as budgets, purchasing, customer experience and brand requirements demanded a level of certain creativity especially when the crisis hit at a time when that journey had just begun. The journey was successful, very demanding but enjoyable as well.

As store manager I was responsible for the operations in one of Hagkaup´s largest stores, the country´s only hypermarket. My responsibilities included amongst others:-meeting & planning financial budgets-supply management-human resource management-customer serviceBeing the youngest woman to take on the role of store manager in one of Iceland´s largest hypermarket was an honor. Managing a large group of staff where the core was many years older than I was a challenging experience. After finding successful ways of communication, all aspects of operations ran in a smoother manner. Unemployment rates were at a record low and staffing was one of the greatest challenges at this time, which called for creative ways of finding staff and restructuring daily operations with the staff that was available.

At this point I served as the department manager for Cashier and Goods reception department. Running a department smoothly that was the face of the store was vital for the customer experience. Adequate training and staffing was a priority. Making sure that the cash and goods flow was secure was priority number one and a great responsibility.

Iceland

Supply management for this small store was the main task as well as making sure that the store metvisual service standards. Human resource management and communication with suppliers were among tasks as well.

Along-side studies I worked in the Hagkaup stores evenings, weekends and summers. For most of those years I was the shift manager when the store manager was not present. Here I was responsible for the store operations to run in an acceptable manner, supporting the staff on duty and providing customer service as well.
