My career to date has been in the biological sciences field, first in an academic environment as a lecturer, and then in a medical diagnostic laboratory as a medical biological scientist. During my 10 years as a lecturer, I gained strong writing and presentation skills as I designed and developed course materials as well as prepared and delivered lectures. I was also working part time towards a PhD, which strengthened my scientific research skills. I subsequently worked for 7 years as a medical biological scientist in molecular biology. In 2020, I was promoted to head of my department and currently manage a team of six. The past 3 years have been a journey of leading and mentoring, where I have learnt the importance of relationship building, effective communication, provision of regular feedback, and recognition of excellent performance. I am very passionate about medical biological science, especially genetic testing as it is so informative when it comes to making health and medical decisions. I am always excited to learn about and share new scientific discoveries as I feel that not enough people are aware of the positive impact these can have on their quality of life. I thoroughly enjoy teaching/ training and team leading as I love helping others reach their full potential and making people aware of their unique value.Key Strengths:- Excellent time management and organisational skills- Self-motivated, dedicated individual who takes pride in delivering work of a high standard - Conscientious with great attention to detail- Effective as part of a team due diplomacy and natural ability to build relationships- Work well independently due to strong sense of responsibility
