In this role, I lead strategic, operational, pedagogical and organizational elements of experiential learning and professional development within the Hamilton Lugar School. I work across the school to support faculty in developing, scaling and expanding high impact curricular and co-curricular experiential learning activities including short term study away programs, student research opportunities, service learning, and more. I also create and implement a range of professional opportunities such as Global Development Consulting and internships abroad. I also manage our student exchange programs.

In this position I cultivate experiential and international education programs that enhance global competencies, facilitate cross-cultural understanding, and build capacity in international development and global careers for students, teachers, and the general community. I design and lead curricular and co-curricular programming for undergraduate and graduate students within HLS and across IU. I collaborate with HLS area studies and global centers in a range of activities such as symposia and workshops, teacher trainings, and summer institutes.I have focused my work on two primary areas: refugee studies and international development studies. In the former, I have taught courses and designed and implemented a 10 day study tour for undergraduate students in Amman, Jordan. I have developed opportunities for students to work directly with refugee-serving agencies as a way of learning more about refugee issues and I have continued to conduct research and provide support to refugees.My work in international development has focused in two areas, pedagogy and career development. I have run two workshops for educators in the field of international development education and am currently working on a book on global development pedagogy that will be published by Bloomsbury press. I have also worked with students in the HLS Global Consultants program to conduct development projects for organizations around the world.

Led a team of Burmese scholars in action research to contextualize the INEE Guidance Note on Teacher Wellbeing. The project included training a team in conducting and analyzing qualitative research and working together to develop a contextualized version of the guidance note as well as a report on the process of contextualizing a global good.https://inee.org/resources/inee-teacher-wellbeing-guidance-note-contextualization-myanmar-non-state-online

Conducted a global evaluation of UNICEF's inclusive education for children with disabilities. Through an extensive literature review and three site visits, our team analyzed UNICEF's success and challenges in meeting desired outputs as identified in its strategic plan

I studied education as it is delivered through international development and humanitarian aid with a particular focus on education in emergencies in the Middle East and North Africa region. My dissertation research uses ethnographic methods and life history interviews to examine the impact of integrated refugee education on refugee inclusion and belonging. With funding from Fulbright, I spent the 2016-2017 academic year conducting my research.
