The Director of Riparian Restoration is focused on sustaining and generating riparian restoration programs and business opportunities within Forterra’s geographic reach and supports the work of other Forterra programs with technical recommendations as relate to riparian corridors. This position supervises two staff members and manages Forterra’s contracted crew and AmeriCorps positions when serving on riparian restoration projects.Forterra’s Riparian Restoration Program is a landscape-scale, community focused restoration model that offers invasive plant abatement on public and private lands (primarily knotweed control), native plant installations, collaborative restoration projects with private streamside landowners, and targeted outreach and educational programming. The Riparian Restoration Program team works in partnership with local jurisdictions, government, and other non-profit organizations.

Recommends policies that may be deemed necessary for the Council’s effective delivery of services and compliance with pertinent laws, rules and regulations.Keeps the Board and Leadership Body informed on the affairs of the Council, it needs and issues. Recruit landowners and land managers to participate in restoration projects that focus on high priority areasWork positively and effectively with landowners, land managers, agency partners, volunteers, and Council members and staff.Fully develop and implements watershed restoration projects in freshwater lotic and lentic systems (including but not limited to: large wood placement, culvert replacement or removal, stream channel/complexity, bank stabilization, wetland restoration, riparian restoration, and riparian fencing and planting).Development and implementation includes initial project identification, design, grant writing, implementation, budget tracking, reporting, and effectiveness monitoring.Maintain invoices and other financial data while projects are in progress to determine and track costs associated with each project, complying with grant budgets.
