In collaboration with artists, musicians and other professionals 4 workshops were designed and… Show more ART.makes.SENSE. is an initiative project that aimed to boost the skills and abilities of blind and visually impared children, as well as improve the communication between children and youth from different backgrounds, teachers and others involved.As the name ART.makes.SENSE. suggest, the project used art in different of its expressions as a tool to appreciate other senses besides vision. In collaboration with artists, musicians and other professionals 4 workshops were designed and implemented. Workshops focused on movement, rhythm and coordination ( contemporary dance and tap dance), touch ( sculpting), taste and smell ( cooking), hearing ( traditional music and instruments) In a playful atmosphere children explored and improved their skills in multiple ways, at the same time they had the chance to meet new people, communicate and learn from them helping them to open up and gain self-confidence. At the moment ART.makes.SENSE. is in a stand by mode, but willing to expand and explore new ways how ART can be a tool for inclusion and improvement of skills and abilities.Workshops were implemented in Strazdumuizhas Boarding School in Riga, Latvia in the framework of the international program "Bridge It!"
